An except from letter from a parent to the Principal: “I would like to write to say how amazed we were by Mrs Bertone’s incredible interdisciplinary unit on butterflies. Her diligent work led to a magnificent outcome of learning for my daughter, As a teacher myself, I was impressed by her creativity in combining all subject areas. Mrs. Bertone should be highly recognized. Her combination of learning themes through poems, math patterns, drawings, science, geography, the calendar, computer skills and journal writing was incredible. In concluding the unit, she invited all parents to attend “The Butterfly Ball” in which students took turns speaking with a microphone to demonstrate their learning. Students also had to show and explain their learning displayed on the walls of the classroom and also share the Powerpoint presentation they had created to their parents. What a confidence building idea! My husband and I applaud Mrs. Bertone for creating such a fantastic interdisciplinary unit, her connections were impeccable. We will never forget the impact Mrs. Bertone had on our daughter’s learning. I would appreciate it if you let the Superintendent know about this teacher at your school. She has done an exceptional job.” -Joanne D.

“My son attends “Ruthie’s Camp” and he loves it! He always comes home happy and tired! I love that the camp is small enough for personal attention but also large enough for a good mix of kids. There’s so much to do at the Ruthie’s Camp because it’s surrounded by waterfront areas, beaches, parks and playgrounds – and Ruthie uses it all for teaching moments and fun! She leads the kids in making theme-related snacks and does unique crafts with the kids. I’m super happy with Ruthie’s Camp!” – Lynn G.
